If you’re looking for a welcoming way to explore the Albuquerque BDSM community, attending your first AEL Power Munch is a great place to start. A Power Munch is a casual, educational gathering where people interested in kink, BDSM, power exchange, and alternative relationships come together to learn, connect, and build community in a relaxed, public setting. Whether you’re brand new or have been part of the lifestyle for years, you’ll find a friendly atmosphere where everyone is welcome.
Each month, the AEL Power Munch features a guest speaker presenting on a different topic related to BDSM education, safety, skills, relationships, communication, or community. Every presentation offers an opportunity to learn something new, ask questions, and hear from experienced members of the community. Topics change each month, so many attendees return regularly to continue learning and meeting new people.
Our Power Munches are held in a public restaurant, so normal restaurant etiquette and attire are expected. There is no cost to attend, although we encourage everyone to support our generous host restaurant by purchasing a meal or beverage during the event. There is no play, no demonstrations, and no expectation that you’ll share anything about yourself unless you choose to. Feel free to simply listen, enjoy dinner, and get to know others in a comfortable, low-pressure environment.
Most importantly, don’t worry about being new — every member of our community attended their first event at some point. If you have questions or aren’t sure where to sit, just introduce yourself to one of our volunteers or organizers. We’d be happy to help you feel at home.
